For the second time in his English Premier League career, Nigeria international defender, Wilfred Ndidi, has again suffered relegation with Leicester City after the Foxes were handed a 1-0 home defeat by Liverpool, following a decisive goal from substitute Trent Alexander-Arnold.
While the victory moved Liverpool to within one win of sealing the Premier League title, the defeat condemned Ndidi and Leicester to relegation once more, having previously gone down in the 2022/23 campaign.
Leicester, needing a win to delay their drop, held off Liverpool until the 76th minute when Alexander-Arnold fired home after a goalmouth scramble.
Liverpool could have sealed a record-equaling 20th English top-flight title if Ipswich Town had beaten Arsenal earlier, but now only need Arsenal to lose to Crystal Palace on Wednesday or to beat Tottenham Hotspur next weekend to clinch it.
Liverpool currently have 79 points from 33 games, while Arsenal trail with 66 from the same number of matches. Leicester, with 18 points and having lost a record nine consecutive home league games without scoring, can no longer catch 17th-placed West Ham United.
