Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that the state remains one of the safest and most welcoming destinations in Nigeria for tourism, investment and business activities.
Fubara made the remarks on Saturday at the 2025 All Nigeria Rotary Conference held in Port Harcourt. He was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba.
According to him, the choice of Port Harcourt as the host city reflects the confidence of national and international organisations in the state’s peaceful atmosphere and hospitality.
“We sincerely appreciate your decision to converge here in Port Harcourt. This gathering of business leaders, policymakers and global partners speaks volumes about the peace and stability enjoyed across our state,” he said. “Your presence is clear evidence that Rivers State is safe, peaceful and open for meaningful engagement.”
The governor encouraged the Rotary District of Nigeria to work with the state government in building leadership capacity among young people. He emphasised the need to guide youths toward productive ventures and away from societal vices.
He called on the organisation to promote unity and understanding across diverse groups, urging them to champion tolerance, fairness and justice in their activities.
Fubara commended Rotary members for their continuous efforts in promoting goodwill and development both within the state and across the country.
District Governor Anthony Woghiren, who leads Rotary International District 9141 for the 2025–2026 Rotary Year, praised members for their dedication to service and community impact. He said the conference would inspire renewed commitment to strengthening humanitarian efforts nationwide.
During the event, Governor Fubara received the Peace Advocate Award in recognition of his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and stability in Rivers State.
The governor has repeatedly stated that delivering meaningful development to residents remains a top priority of his administration.
