Sunmola Adijat Olashile: A Woman Poised To Lead For Change

Sunmola Adijat Olashile is a young, dynamic and visionary Nigerian woman whose life journey reflects resilience, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to public service. Born and raised in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, she hails proudly from Ejila Awori Ward, a community she often describes as the foundation of her identity, values, and aspirations.

Her educational journey began at Folbim International School before she proceeded to Ikenne Community High School. Determined to pursue higher learning, she gained admission into Crescent University, Abeokuta, where she studied Political Science and International Relations. At Crescent University, she distinguished herself not only academically but also through leadership, advocacy, and active involvement in student affairs.

Her dedication to her studies earned her the remarkable honour of becoming the first female best graduating student in her department, a milestone that later inspired younger female students to believe more in themselves, to study harder and pursue academic excellence. In fact, her achievement became a reference point that motivated a new pattern where several female students after her went on to emerge as best graduating students as well.

After completing her studies, she proceeded on the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme, adding another layer of discipline and national exposure to her growing profile.

Professionally, Sunmola Adijat Olashile is a trailblazer. She is the Chief Executive Officer of Deejah Roofing Solution and Consult, a company through which she has carved an extraordinary space for herself in a male-dominated sector. Her courage and competence have earned her the distinction of being the first and only female roofer in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Her venture into roofing was driven by passion, curiosity and a desire to break stereotypes, and over the years she has become an example of how women can excel in any field, regardless of societal limitations.

Her leadership experience stretches back to her school days, where she served as part of the student representatives. This early exposure to public service deepened her interest in governance and community development. Her commitment eventually led her to contest for the position of councillor in her ward during the last local government elections. Although she did not emerge as the candidate, a result influenced by gender bias and political sentiment, she did not see it as a setback. Instead, she describes the experience as a motivation to continue pushing for a society where women are given equal opportunities to lead.

At the heart of her political consciousness is her desire to correct the long-standing misconception that women cannot hold political positions. She has consistently challenged that mindset both in speech and action, using her personal achievements and advocacy work to demonstrate that women are capable, prepared and deserving of leadership roles. Her political motivation is simple yet profound: to make the Ado-Odo/Igbesa State Constituency great again and to drive gender equity in all spheres.

Beyond politics and business, Sunmola is deeply involved in community service. She has been a firm advocate against gender violence, child abuse and child defilement. Her voice has become one of the growing female voices standing boldly against societal wrongs that undermine the dignity and rights of children and women.

Currently, she serves as a Ward Facilitator for the Nigeria for Women Programme (NFWP) Scale-Up Project, a federal initiative designed to empower women socially, economically and financially. In this role, she works directly with women at the grassroots, helping them build financial independence, develop entrepreneurial skills, and gain social confidence. Her involvement in this project has further strengthened her belief that meaningful development must begin with empowering women, because empowered women inevitably create stronger families and stronger communities.

Through her experiences as a leader, entrepreneur, advocate and grassroots mobilizer, Sunmola Adijat Olashile continues to build a reputation rooted in integrity, courage and service. As she prepares to step more boldly into the political space, her story stands as proof that consistency, hard work and conviction can open doors even in the most difficult environments.

Her aspiration for political office is not borne out of personal ambition alone, but out of a genuine desire to contribute to the growth of her constituency, to reshape narratives around women in leadership, and to become a voice for fairness, equity and development. She represents a new generation of women who are ready to take their rightful place in public service, not by demanding it, but by demonstrating capacity, competence, and character.

Sunmola Adijat Olashile is, by every measure, a promising political figure with a compelling story, a grounded personality, and a vision that aligns with the future Nigeria deserves.wj
