Sunmola Adijat, Ward Facilitator for the Nigerian Women Project Scale-Up Programme in Ado-Odo/Ota State Constituency II, has lauded the Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), for his selfless service and transformative impact across Ogun West in 2025.
Her remarks were made during the End-of-Year Thanksgiving and Party held in Ilaro, which attracted dignitaries, constituents, and faith leaders from across the senatorial district and beyond.
In a heartfelt address, Adijat described Senator Yayi’s leadership as “service in action,” emphasizing that within just two years in office, his projects have touched lives, empowered communities, and set a new benchmark for grassroots representation. According to her, his selfless service is evident in the provision of internal roads fitted with solar-powered streetlights, town halls, classroom blocks and furniture, healthcare facilities, ultra-modern markets, boreholes, educational development initiatives, upgraded electrical infrastructure, security support, and empowerment programmes across the five local governments of Ogun West — Ado-Odo/Ota, Ipokia, Yewa South, Yewa North, and Imeko-Afon.
Adijat highlighted Yayi’s extensive infrastructure development, noting that the construction and rehabilitation of township and rural roads have significantly eased transportation challenges, opened up markets, and reconnected communities that had long been neglected.
She also commended his commitment to education, citing the construction of multiple classroom blocks and the provision of ICT facilities in public schools. According to her, these interventions have enhanced learning environments, while scholarships and bursaries awarded to deserving students have reduced financial pressure on families and enabled young people to pursue their academic aspirations.
On healthcare, Adijat acknowledged Senator Yayi’s efforts in completing and upgrading primary healthcare centres, including PHCs and ICUs, thereby improving access to quality healthcare at the grassroots. She noted that these interventions have strengthened maternal care, emergency response, and overall healthcare delivery, ensuring timely and accessible medical services for residents.
Adijat further highlighted the senator’s empowerment programmes, which have benefited thousands of youths, women, traders, farmers, and artisans. Through cash grants, vocational tools, business equipment, skills acquisition, and agricultural support such as tractors and seedlings, beneficiaries have been empowered to expand their livelihoods, enhance self-reliance, and contribute to more resilient communities.
She also explicitly acknowledged Senator Yayi’s efforts in electricity provision and community development, particularly the distribution of transformers to several communities. These interventions, she said, have improved power supply, supported small businesses, and reduced reliance on costly generators. In addition, the construction and rehabilitation of modern market stalls and community halls have strengthened local commerce and social cohesion by providing functional spaces for trade and communal activities.
Summing up her remarks, Adijat stated that Senator Yayi’s leadership in 2025 was characterised by tangible, people-centred service that positively impacted every sector of life in Ogun West.
“As we gather to celebrate this end-of-year event, we cannot but reflect on the sustained efforts of Senator Yayi in delivering development across Ogun West Senatorial District, addressing critical needs in infrastructure, healthcare, and economic well-being,” she said.
In his remarks, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola expressed gratitude to God for guidance throughout the year and reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining development and inclusive representation in the coming year. The event concluded with prayers for peace, unity, and continued progress in Ogun West, reflecting optimism and hope for 2026.
