Alake Receives Yoruba Council Worldwide, Calls For Yoruba Solidarity With President Tinubu 

The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, has urged the Yoruba people to rally behind President Bola Tinubu, to showcase the unity and determination of the Yorubas to create a better Nigeria.

Oba Gbadebo who made the urge while receiving members of the the Yoruba Council Worldwide, led by their Global President, Barrister Oladotun Hassan, at the Ake palace on Thursday ahead of the 7th anniversary of the Omoluabi Festival scheduled for May 1, 2025, in Abeokuta.

The theme of this year’s anniversary is; Yoruba Agenda, Our Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow.

Alake disclosed that he had received calls by some groups, clamouring for Yoruba secession from Nigeria due to the current situation in the country.

But the Monarch warned against secession, dismissing the idea as unpatriotic.

Instead, he insisted that all Nigerians, especially the Yorubas must work together to take the nation to greatness.

He said “We have received letter from some groups that wanted Yoruba to pull out of Nigeria and I was wondering why they would advocate for such, now that we have Mr President who is a Yoruba man, we should rally round around him to show the whole world that when it gets to the turn of some Nigerians, things will move far better and we will succeed in a big way because.

“This is the time for Yoruba to show the world that we are civilized and we can make Nigeria a country of our dreams.

Speaking to Newsmen at the sideline of the visit, Barrister Oladotun Hassan, the Global President for Yoruba Council Worldwide disclosed that the anniversary is aimed at a united Nigerians as well as show appreciation for the giant strides of President Tinubu.

He equally disclosed that that dignitaries, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan, Alake, Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola, Alafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, and all south west governors will be attending the event.

His words “The 7th anniversary of the Omoluabi Festival started on the first of May, 2025. We are expecting the Onni of Ife, Alafin of Oyo, Alake, Olowu and government functionaries and southwestern governors.

“This year’s edition is priding our unity and with the theme, Yoruba agenda, our yesterday, today and tomorrow. We have over 20 professors to speak. The unity we have now been praying for is now here and we belive that this country belongs to all of us.
