The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Haastrup, on his ascension to the historic throne.
In a statement released by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, the Alaafin praised Oba Haastrup’s leadership record and commitment to the advancement of Ijesaland.
Oba Owoade highlighted the new monarch’s remarkable journey from his ventures in business and real estate to his role as the former Deputy Governor of Osun State, describing it as a testament to his leadership prowess and dedication to public service.
He lauded the Owa Obokun’s efforts in maintaining peace and upholding the integrity of the traditional institution through discipline, vision, and candour.
“Kabiyesi, it feels like yesterday when the lot fell on you to lead a people bound by the umbilical cord of shared history, culture and tradition,” the Alaafin said. “Undoubtedly, you have displayed rare leadership acumen in fostering peaceful coexistence among the people of Ijesaland.”
The Alaafin described Oba Haastrup as a selfless and detribalised leader whose compassion for people transcends ethnic, religious, and economic lines. He also commended the monarch’s unwavering advocacy for peace, unity, and progress.
He concluded the message with prayers for a fruitful reign for Oba Haastrup and divine blessings upon Ijesaland and Osun State.
