Ex-Councillors In Ogun Lament Hardship, Appeal For Severance, Allowances From Gov. Abiodun

Former councillors who served from  2016 to 2019 under the former Governor of Ogun State,  Senator Ibikunle Amosun have appealed to the Governor of the State, Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun to pay their severance package, furniture allowances and the two months and 10 days salaries.

They disclosed that this is not their first time of begging Governor Abiodun to pay their entitlements, urging him consider them this time around.

The appeal was made known in a statement signed by a former councillor, Hon. Lateef Monsuru Abiodun from  ward 1,   Abeokuta South Local Government and made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Monday.

The ex councilors maintained that they had met with the Governor, Deputy Governor Secretary to the State Government, the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly concerning the issue but all their efforts proved abortive.

They pleaded with the Governor to be considerate over their plight, saying that life has not been easy on them.

The Statement reads “It is with pains in our heart ,that we are prompted to write our Governor again concerning our severance, furniture allowances and the two months and 10 months salaries that the former Governor has refused to pay us before leaving office.This is not our first time of  writing our Governor and appealing to him  to pay our entitlements. We are writing again to remind Mr Governor to fulfil his promise and to put smiles on our faces by directing payment of our entitlements because some of our colleagues are on sick bed, some are dying, some need money to set up themselves as to put food on their table. We are begging our  Governor again because we believe he is much concerned about the well-being of the citizens of the State to approve and direct the payment of these entitlements to us so we that life can be easy for us.”
The former Councilors pledged their continued loyalty and support to  Governor Abiodun led administration, while commending him for some of the achievements recorded under his watch.
They also urged support and prayers for the Governor to finish strong.
